PASNAP/CNA/NNOC withdraw strike notice!  One question why do you avoid associating yourselves with CNA?

We at www.thepronurse.com applaud this initiative.  Our thoughts were what a horrible time to go out on strike.  There are so many nurses in need of work in the City and none would have a hard time crossing that pickit line.. even HUH nurses were considering it! The financial incentives posted were incredible $41 to $114 per hour.   I have to say that it would have been a tough sell for me to go out on strike because of tuition reibursement and insurance.  What about all the talk about only striking for patient care and safe staffing?????  That goes to show you that the only power that a union has is to strike... that management clause will get you everytime... they still have the last say, don't they?

HAHNEMANN NURSES WIN ELECTION!

The Professional Nurses made their voices heard!

 CNA/PASNAP/NNOC defeated 309 to 267!

Picture
The election occured at Hahnemann on the 17th and 18th of June despite unresolved labor practice charges that were pending at the National Labor Relation Board.  CNA/PASNAP?NNOC petitioned for the vote despite nurses asking for their signature back.  The vote results were impounded until these issues were resolved.  On Monday the 6th of July the NLRB made the decion to count the ballots.  An outstanding response came from the nurses,  a total of 607 nurses voted in the election.  My congratulations is extended to the nurses at Hahnemann that participated in this monumental decision!

Nurses Eject Unwanted CNA Union from Tenet Hospital in Philadelphia

By Will Collins Created 9 Jul 2009 - 11:57am Subhead: Union hierarchy loses decertification election, prosecution of union officials for workplace intimidation moves forward Location: Philadelphia, PA Philadelphia, PA (July 8, 2009) – After enduring a coercive union organizing campaign and harassment by union militants, a Philadelphia-area nurse successfully ejected the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals (PASNAP) union, a local affiliate of the national California Nurses Association (CNA) union, from Hahnemann University Hospital.

Certifying the results, federal supervisors from the National Labor Relations Board announced that PASNAP lost the election, 309 votes to 267. Union officials may no longer force nurses to accept their “representation.”

Kimberly Hummel of Deptford, New Jersey is employed as a nurse at Hahnemann University Hopsital, a medical facility owned and operated by Tenet Healthcare Corporation. After CNA organizers muscled into the hospital using a controversial “Election Procedures Agreement” (EPA), Hummel criticized the hospital’s support for union organizers.

With free legal aid from the National Right to Work Foundation, she filed federal unfair labor practice charges against the California Nurses Association (CNA) union and Tenet Healthcare Corporation in February 2009.

The charges challenged the legitimacy of the EPA, listing multiple violations of employee rights that hindered nurses’ attempts to resist the CNA’s professional organizers. Under the agreement, Tenet managers were gagged from responding truthfully to employee questions about the CNA, and nurses who opposed unionization were forbidden from using Tenet facilities to express their views. Outside union organizers, on the other hand, were given free rein to pressure nurses into approving unionization.

In early June, Foundation attorneys filed another round of unfair labor practice charges against the CNA, alleging that Hummel was harassed and stalked by union militants in retaliation for her efforts to challenge CNA’s aggressive organizing tactics.

Despite this intimidation, Hummel successfully initiated a union decertification election by collecting signatures from more than 30 percent of affected hospital employees who oppose the union’s presence.

“After enduring a backroom organizing deal between their employer and the CNA and union intimidation in the workplace, Hahnemann University Hospital nurses have finally restored their individual rights to free association,” said Stefan Gleason, vice president of the National Right to Work Foundation.

Cypress Fairbanks Nurses go to Decertification Election on June 25th and the 26th

Philly Nurses of RAFU and Hahnemann extend all of their support to the Cypress Fairbanks Nurses as they mark this monumental election.  CNA was voted into their facility one year ago in May with many of the empty promises we in Philadelphia are all too aware!  No changes in salary or benefits WHY?  Because they are in contract negotiations!  NO changes can occur during the negotitation process , no take aways, as the organizers so proudly stated at our facility but no increases in wages or benefits either... They forget to share that one... .  Let us know asap what the results are of your election we are all rooting for you!

Can Unions Lie to their Members?  The NLRB says "YES"!

THIS IS A MUST READ:
CAN UNIONS LIE TO THEIR MEMBERS? THE NLRB SAYS 'YES'! The National Labor Relations Board, the federal agency that was allegedly established to protect workers from abuse from both employers and unions.

Unfortunately, it seems that the NLRB has now become a mere tool of union bosses.

On May 29th, the union-controlled NRLB gave an unabashed green light for union bosses to go-ahead and lie to their members. In an Advice Memorandum, the Office of the General Counsel stated:

"We conclude that the Union did not violate either Section 8(b)(3) or 8(b)(1)(A) by misstating the Employer’s final contract proposal at the ratification meeting because that vote was wholly an internal union matter, nor did it violate Section 8(b)(3) by failing to execute the proposed final agreement because the contract proposed by the Employer differed from the contract ratified by the employees."

Left as a stand alone, this is alarming for union members and potential union members. In light of the potential of the delusionally-dubbed Employee Free Choice Act, this NLRB ruling is appalling!

We are the Professional Nurses at Hahnemann University Hospital Making a Stand against CNA/PASNAP/NNOC

The Nurses at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia,  Pennsylvania have been the victims of a corporate Neutrality or Election Procedure Agreement.  This agreement was born from a corporate collanboration between Tenet and CNA/PASNAP/NNOC.  What this means is that the union organizers have been given access to our facility under the restrictions of the agreement.   Here is the kicker....the agreement benefits the Union.  That's right the employees did not request the union come in our doors the Corporation of Tenet did?  You may be asking yourself how can this be fair?

Well it is not ... the main chain of command at our facility has been placed on a "GAG ORDER!"  This means that our traditional source of leadership, education, information and guidance cannot assist us in this matter.   Those who do not dare to question or investigate may think ... well if they are here and the company invited them then they must be okay... WRONG!!!

That is exactly what they want you to think... they want you to believe that everything is unsafe, underpaid, undervalued and low on benefits.  They want you to believe that being a union facility is a desirable position.. That they will give you a voice!  I have been a nurse for twenty years and have never had an issue getting my voice heard.

The truth is that they ROB you of your voice, your voice now becomes the Unions... What?  Union memberships have decreased, infact union facilities are acitively pursuing decertification elections.  This is why the birth of neutrality agreements have occured.   Unions have invented these corporate alliances to place the empoyees of the facilities as pawns in a financial agreement... How is this fair?  How is this just ?  How is this being allowed?

What happened to the first Three Hospitals on the Neutrality Agreement between CNA/NNOC?

Join us in congratulating  our sister hospital facilities and nurse that have successfully blocked CNA/NNOC from going to a Vote.... Houston Northwest and Park Plaza Hospitals in Houston, Texas.  The other facility Cypress Fairbanks is in the process of an anti-union decertification election as you read this today.. Our votes and support are will all of you !  See the official NLRB withdrawl below... It is truly a shame that they have to blame everyone else but the fact that they did not have enough signatures!   Nurses do have a voice and they have proven it ... and they didn't have to pay any monthly dues either!

Let's   lend  our support to another facility battling the CNA....The one question that keeps coming to our minds;  If CNA is so great and they are doing so much for the professional nurse then why are so many other facilities trying to get them out????   http://www.cnaalert.org/AboutCNA.html
